Notes/ Action
Items:

Senior List

Delisa discussed the Senior List and requested that the list
be sent electronically next time so that sorting could be done more
efficiently. Others agreed that a tabbed spreadsheet would be more helpful than
the printed copy the colleges receive now. It was also not clear to the
colleges that some of the reports, like the ones listing requirements, contain
information only from IDA 2.0; whereas other reports, like the ones only listing
courses, combined information from IDA 2.0 and NRDEGR. UGS is still requesting
an aggregate report for seniors missing core requirements. The colleges also
mentioned that course scheduling happens further in advance than the report is
created, so it might be of use to give them a report for students who have
>90 hours instead of >105 hours to help with planning.

Core Government

Jen informed the colleges of some unusual core government
transfer work sequences that students may now have. Beginning in fall 2013, the
state compelled all 2-year institutions to teach the GOV 2305/2306 model.
Students who were at that institution prior to 139 took GOV 2301 or 2302. If
they took a second class after their institution was forced to change the way
the course was taught, they have ended up with a combination that doesn’t
really work for the core. Jen suspects many of those institutions have accepted
these combinations, but UT will not unless the student is already core
complete. A recent bug in the system was allowing for some of these
unacceptable combinations to look like they were fulfilling the core government
requirements. Combinations like GOV 312L and GOV 3TX were satisfying the
requirement. Jen made a simple fix to her coding and this should no longer be
an issue. However, she wanted the colleges to be aware of the situation.

Advanced Override

Catherine went over the changes that have been made to the
Advanced Override.  We requested feedback
from the colleges regarding the changes that are being made to this function
and the tech team is currently working on incorporating those changes. One
change that was reiterated and important to the colleges was that of an
automatic title change to the course lists that are created from the override.
The addition of the word “Override” to the beginning of all course list titles
created from the override would help the coders keep their changes straight.
They also mentioned that the removal of the option to copy/replace a course
list on the override course list after it’s been incorporated would help
identify which course lists have been changed and which are inherent to the
requirement.

Sunset NRDEGR

NRDEGR will be sunset on September 30, 2014, so it is of
importance that the colleges go live with the 08-10 catalogs soon as possible.
Nursing and the College of Communications are close to going live with the
08-10 catalog. Below are the projected 08-10 catalog go live dates for the
remaining colleges:

  • Architecture - after spring graduation
  • Business – after spring graduation
  • Geosciences – not using the 08-10 catalog
  • Natural Sciences – after spring graduation
  • Fine Arts – after spring graduation
  • Engineering – after summer graduation;
    August/September.

14-16 Catalog

Audits for freshmen orientation students will be run under
the 14-16 catalog this summer. Colleges will need to begin working on their
14-16 catalog for these entering freshmen. UGS indicated they would be working
hard to make sure that the core was coded for these students.
