How do I order a transcript?
Stop by the Registrar's Office, order online, or submit a Transcript Request form. If you owe money to the University, i.e. - a financial bar, place an order for an unofficial transcript to be picked up immediately or mailed directly to you. Transcripts are not sent until the transcript fee is paid.
If you were enrolled before Fall 1979 you will need to submit a Transcript Request form.
I need an unofficial UT transcript, but I don't have a bar. What can I do?
You may request an official transcript to be picked up from our office or mailed directly to you. Copying or scanning an official transcript will render it unofficial.
I am currently taking an extension or correspondence course, when will my grade appear and how can I order a transcript?
Extension and correspondence course grades appear on transcripts once course is completed. Transcripts will not show extension or correspondence courses in progress. Confirm grade is posted via See My Grades before placing transcript order. Extension and correspondence transcripts may be ordered online within six months after course completion date. Use the Transcript Request order form to place order if course completion date is over six (6) months old or not currently taking another course. For quicker processing, order transcripts online whenever possible.
I have a form that needs to go with my transcript.
We can attach forms that (1) were created by the third party and (2) specify that it needs to be sent with the transcript. Bring third-party form to Registrar's Office if ordering in person. If ordering online, immediately pay on What I Owe and email form to email@example.com. Include name, EID, transaction # or destination address in the email. If unable to order online, submit Transcript Request order form and third party form by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), fax or mail.
I do not know my EID, how can I place an order?
An EID is an electronic identifier that lets you use secure services online. If enrolled after fall semester of 1979, you may already have an EID. Use the University's UT EID Self-Service Tools to find your EID, update your email address, and reset your password. For more EID help, contact ITS Help Desk. If enrolled before fall 1979, submit Transcript Request order form and leave EID blank.
Why do I have a financial bar?
You owe money to the University. You must pay these amounts before you can order an official transcript. You can pay online through What I Owe.
- If ordering online: What I Owe accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, eCheck, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for online transcript orders. If you experience difficulty paying, please contact Student Accounts Receivable at 512-475-7777.
- If ordering in person: You can pay with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash, or personal checks written out to The University of Texas at Austin for exact amount. American Express is not an accepted form of payment.

How can I send an electronic transcript?
Log onto the Transcript Ordering System. When you select a destination (from a drop down menu) that accepts electronic transmission of transcripts, the transcript will be sent electronically. There can be a period of 24 hours (sometimes more, especially on the weekend) in turn-around time. You will not be able to send an electronic transcript if you only took extension/correspondence courses or were enrolled before Fall 1979.
Can I see my transcript online?
Transcripts are not viewable online; however, the Grade Report may be viewed online and printed out for each semester.
Can the Office of the Registrar fax or email my transcript?
The Office of the Registrar does not fax or email transcripts. Request an official transcript issued to you to scan, fax, or email on your own.
How can I order and pick up my transcript in person?
Do NOT order online if you will be coming to our office. Transcripts ordered online print the next business day and will be mailed. Bring photo ID and payment to pick up official transcript ($20 per transcript) or academic summary (free) within 10 minutes. Official transcripts can be ordered or picked up by proxy. Check and clear any financial bars on What I Owe or at Cashier’s in Main Building before visiting the Registrar’s Office. If unable to clear financial bar(s), you can place an order for an unofficial transcript ($20 per transcript) to be picked up immediately. Unofficial transcripts can also be ordered and picked up by proxy.
How long does it take for transcript to be sent out?
Once payment is received, official transcripts ordered online are sent within two (2) business days. Transcripts ordered by Transcript Request form are manually processed and sent within five (5) business days. Processing takes longer during peak periods between semesters. When will my transcript get there?
Transcripts are sent by standard USPS First Class mail or Foreign Class Air Mail for international addresses. Mail sent through U.S. Postal Service cannot be tracked. Transcript Services allow minimum two (2) weeks for U.S. deliveries and up to four (4) weeks for international deliveries. Delivery times not guaranteed.
How can I confirm status of my order, change, or cancel an order placed online?
Login online and click Check order history (including in-office requests) on bottom of page. Select Transcript Order Status located in the left-hand navigation menu. Online orders that are not paid through What I Owe may be changed or canceled completely. Before confirming your order, review order information carefully. Once an order is paid, it cannot be changed or canceled.

I sent a transcript to UT-Austin from another school, how can I check the status?
Contact Office of Admissions at (512) 475-7399 or check MyStatus for more information. Office of the Registrar does not receive transcripts from other schools.
