Getting ready to graduate?
There are several steps to ensure you’re ready to receive your diploma. Below are a few actions you can take to ensure your degree information is correct and how you plan to receive your diploma is accurate.
What’s on my diploma?
Your name (on your student record file) and degree earned will be displayed on your diploma. Please note, majors are not on the diploma.
Degree earned and name displayed correctly?
Confirm your name and the degree you will earn upon receipt of the “Degree Candidate” email which will be sent to you from the Office of the Registrar. You will receive the email to the email address on file with the University before graduation during this time period:
- Fall – end October and mid-November
- Spring – April and May
- Summer – July and August
You can update your email to ensure you are receiving communications from the Office of the Registrar by visiting https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/utd/all_my_addresses/ .
Bring your original supporting documentation such as a valid driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, marriage license, divorce decree that reinstates your name to the Office of the Registrar in MAIN 16. Photo copies are not accepted.
Pick up your diploma.
If you would like your diploma held for pick up, submit a request via: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/degree/diplomas/pickup_form/ .
Simply log in with your EID and password, then select your degree information. Please read all pertinent information on that page regarding your request to have your diploma held for pick up.
Mail my diploma.
It’s imperative that your permanent address is current. You can verify your permanent mailing address by visiting: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/utd/all_my_addresses/. Please note, we only mail diplomas to the permanent address on file. Forwarding orders will not work, the post office does not forward parcel mail. In addition, ‘CARE OF’ and the person’s name with whom you are staying must be on the address if the last name is different from yours.
Diploma going internationally?
We mail all diplomas via the US Postal Service. If you want to track your diploma, you can utilize FedEx (Federal Express) at your own expense. This is the only way to receive a tracking number. If you would like to FedEx your diploma, contact Diploma Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 512-475-7621.
When can I expect my diploma by mail?
You can expect your diploma within 2-3 months after graduation.

You can confirm degrees and dates attended by visiting: https://registrar.utexas.edu/students/degrees/verify.
If the following is restricted, then it may not be viewable by potential employers: NAME, DEGREE, MAJORS, and DATES OF ATTENDANCE. To review or change your restrictions, go to https://utdirect.utexas.edu/registrar/myinfo/index.WBX.
