A transcript is a comprehensive record of your academic progress, including transfer courses, credit earned by exam, and earned degrees.
Your name appears on your transcript as it appears on your university record. Official transcripts include the university seal and the signature of the registrar.
Student academic records are classified as confidential and may be released only with the student's written authorization and signature, in accordance with the Public Information Act and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. Beginning in September 1999, transcripts sent to other Texas schools include TSI and core curriculum information if available.
Transcripts may be ordered online by clicking the button above with your UT EID; by mail, fax, or email with our signed .pdf order form; in person; or by proxy. The cost is $10 per transcript.
All requests are usually processed within two (2) business days after order is received. Processing time may be longer during peak times; particularly at the end of semesters.
To order online. Click on the button above to log onto the secure transcript order system using your UT EID and pay through What I Owe. Transcripts are not sent until payment is received. Once you confirm, you may not revise your order except to cancel it from the status of all orders page located in the navigation menu within the order system. Once you pay, you may neither revise nor cancel the order. Confirmed online orders left unpaid for more than 60 days will automatically be canceled. Refunds not applicable for online orders.
- Texas Ex-Students. If you were enrolled after fall semester of 1979, you may already have an EID. Use the University's UT EID Self-Service Tools to find it and reset your password. For EID help, contact ITS Help Desk.
To order by mail, fax, or email. Send in your request using our signed .pdf order form. All requests must have the student’s handwritten signature; digital signatures not accepted. Requests can be sent by mail to The University of Texas at Austin; Office of the Registrar; Transcript Services; P.O. Box 7216; Austin, TX 78713-7216; fax 512 475-7681; or email email@example.com.
To order in person. Come to the registrar's office in Main Building Room 1, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. You must present a UT ID card, state-issued photo ID, or passport. Cost is $10 per transcript. If mailing, you must provide a complete address or you may take the transcript with you. Note: Requests for notarized transcripts, certifications, and diplomas take additional time. Please allow up to 30 minutes or more for documents to be notarized. Notarized transcripts cannot be ordered online.
To order by proxy. You may authorize a third party to order or pick up your official transcript by using our .pdf proxy authorization form. This form may be faxed in advance to 512 475-7681. Requesting transcripts using an authorized proxy cannot be ordered online. Transcripts for pick up are printed when the proxy comes to the office.
Delivery options. You may request your own official transcript issued to you in a sealed envelope; the transcript will be issued in an envelope with the registrar's signature across the back flap. If you do not request this option, the transcript will be stamped Issued to Student and will not be sealed with the registrar's signature.
You may request your transcript to be held until your degree or your grades for the current semester are recorded.
Official transcripts are not issued for students with financial bars. You can check your bar status by visiting What I Owe, if you have a UT EID. For more information on clearing financial bars, see How to Pay or call Student Accounts Receivable at 512 475-7777.
You may check online for the status of all transcript orders using your EID. Click on Order transcript online button at the top of this page. Log in using your EID and click Continue past the opening page. Select Status of All Orders at the top of the navigation menu on the left side. The most recent order is on top; click on More Info to view or print page as receipt.
Transcripts may be sent by overnight delivery at your expense. Overnight delivery is not available for online orders. The Office of the Registrar uses Federal Express; other delivery services may be used if you make arrangements in advance. Payment for overnight delivery must be made with a separate check or by credit card. Transcript Services cannot quote rates; Federal Express must be contacted for shipping costs. Processing deadline for overnight requests is 4 p.m.; all requests received after 4 p.m. are processed the next business day. Processing time may be longer during peak times; particularly at the end of semesters. Note: Requesting overnight delivery does not assure priority processing for your request.
Unofficial transcripts. An unofficial transcript can be issued to students with financial bars. The cost is $10 per copy. An unofficial transcript lists all of a student's coursework but does not include the university seal, the signature of the registrar, or the name of the university. Once the request is received, it will be available for next-day pickup or mailed to the student. An unofficial transcript will be released only to the student requesting it; it cannot be released to a third party.
Previous school transcripts. You may order unofficial copies of your transcripts from other schools if they were submitted to the university and if they remain on file. The cost is $10 per copy payable at time of request, and are available for pickup or mailed out to the student the next business day. Previous school transcripts are released only to the student requesting them; they cannot be released to a third party.
Academic summaries. An academic summary lists all of a student's coursework and is available only to the student at no cost from Student Academic Records in the Office of the Registrar.
