Using waitlists

Waitlists help you get open seats in full classes, without spending all day waiting yourself -- and they're a free service.

What does a waitlist look like?

» Let's take a look.

When seats open up in a full class, we fill them with students on its waitlist. (Being on a waitlist won't guarantee you a seat, but it's the only way to grab one.) Departments decide if a class gets a waitlist. When you try to register for a filled class that has a list, we'll offer it to you. You don't have to sign up, but if you want the class, the only way in is by joining its list.

We email you if you get the class you want, and we can swap one of your registered classes for it. So, say you want that 10am chemistry class, but it's full. No problem: grab another time so you're safely in the course, then join the 10am's list and pick the other as a swap class. This way, if you get the 10am, we drop the other for you.

We've built a See My Waitlists page where you can work with your lists, see your rank on each, and change a swap class. Check your lists at any time. The registration system doesn't have to be running, so see them whenever you want: after work, between classes, or even when you're home for the holidays.
